Panzer feuert, Kameramann filmt seinen eigenen Tod. Das war vor fünf Wochen. Das war der Tod des Reuters-Kameramanns Fadel Shana in Gaza.

“The Israeli Defence Forces IDF wishes to emphasize that it does not take any responsibility for the presence of foreign journalists in operational or combat zones in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip. Any journalist who enters these areas is acting under his own will and responsibility. There will be no coordination of press movement and activity in the areas of IDF operations.” (Press release IDF)
Das war am 7.Mai 2008.
Heute kam die Foreign Press Association zusammen, der Zusammenschluss der ausländischen Journalisten in Israel. Hier das Protokoll der Sitzung:
“Steve Gutkin began with a briefing of a meeting held earlier in the week with the IDF. Present at that meeting were the IDF’s Avital Leibowitz and her senior officer in the Communication Department Colonel Ofer Kol.
The meeting failed to bridge the gap between us. The IDF only reluctantly acknowledged their responsibility for our right to access operational areas. Initially they said they expected journalists to leave areas in which the IDF conducts operations. We said this was an unacceptable position and we rejected it outright. The meeting concluded with the IDF agreeing to a review of their position.
Our colleagues from Reuters have still received no information about the investigation into the death of their colleague Fadal Shana. No date was given.”
Niemand wünscht die Fortsetzung dieser Geschichte, schon gar nicht mit einem anderen Kameramann oder Journalisten in der Hauptrolle. Aber falls es denn doch soweit kommen sollte:
